TRIP TO SACRAMENTO
DAY 3
During the 2nd day, there was a power outage, which prevented everyone from playing. So, players were sent home, to return the next day.
On Sunday morning, we returned to Hard Times to enjoy some more competition. I spent the day observing. Taking in as much as I could. I tried to pay attention for shots that I struggle with. How did these players hit the shot? What English did they use? How did they stroke? What kind of leaves were they getting? How often were they making these shots? I paid close attention to the way they looked at the table. I watched their faces when they made shots, when they missed them, and what they did as they walked away after missing. Everyone reacted differently, though some of the players never changed the expression on their face. Their "poker face" was unshakable.
The last day of this tournament was a great experience for me. I came away from it learning a lot, thinking more, and envisioning more possibilities for me in the world of pool. These people, some of them considered the best in the world, are human. They got where they are because they drove themselves to that point. All I have to do is work. Work hard. Pay attention. Soak up all I can, while I can, and use it to improve. I will get there. One day, I will be feared by the best. I can be the best, by doing my best. I can, and I will.
